The Key West Girls!

This week, the Key girls will be the Key West Girls! We landed here in KW on Saturday and will spend the week playing in the sun...and playing with Gams & Pops. At the end of the week, we have a family wedding to attend and look so forward to being a part of A&K's wedding celebration. Between working and playing, I plan to keep you updated. 

The girls were SOOOOO excited for the airplane ride to get here. They talked about it for weeks and it's finally here. We had a super early 7 o'clock flight and they woke up bright eyed at 4am to head out. Adde snoozed in the car on the way, but Clare never shut her eyes. Here are the big girls and Daddy getting ready to board.

The flight to Tampa was a success and we had nearly the entire rear of the plane to ourselves. The girls were back and forth between Mommy and Daddy, but other than that, they were great.  

The lovely Tampa airport has two little playgrounds for the kids and this was a LIFESAVER for our 3 hour layover. The girls played and played and met some new friends.

After 2 hours in the playground and 1 hour going up and down the alligator 'aka' escalator that was next to our departure gate, the girls took off out to the little puddle jumper as soon as the man said they could go. I actually thought they would be scared to death to go out there, but I had to tell them to slow down and wait for us. Again, super excited!

And thankfully they got in a little shut eye around 2pm after being up at 4am. It worked out nicely with us taking up the last row of the plane. There were only 18 seats on the plane (and yes, the girls are still sleeping with paci's! we plan to tackle this before baby brother arrives as he WILL need them too...maybe? They have made the girls the best sleepers, and SO willingly to go to sleep that I, yes me, just can't give them up).

We arrived safe and sound in KW and here are the girls waiting for the luggage carousel to take their bags. They were a little disappointed when it never came on.

Welcomed at our home for the week by the chicken and her chicks. Little did we know this cute, or somewhat cute, little creature would be out to haunt us for the next week. Ok, so maybe the actual chicken is not to blame, but the rooster. KW has chickens running wild all over the town, and they are protected. I don't understand it, but maybe it makes them feel more like an island town. Not sure how protected they really are and we may find out after killing a few of them. At 4:30AM theses loud creatures start cock-a-doodle-doo'ing and don't stop until sunrise. They obviously are a little confused on when to start and it is totally annoying. Luckily we all have iphones with sleep sound apps and we slept much better last night. These roosters remind me of one of Adde & Clare's latest books where the new rooster doesn't know how to cock-a-doodle-doo and has to visit a couple different farms to learn how. Well, ALL these roosters need to head out to the FARM! I'm sure a lot more to come about these over the next week.
