Great Grandma Schindler

I'm not really a fan of these posts and you can usually guess what the post is about from the title,  however for the scrapbook, it's a must and most definitely for good memories! Our family said goodbye to Grandma Schindler back on April 15th and we all miss her dearly! My grandfather died a few months before our wedding in 2007 and Grandma's been hanging on since then even though she rarely spent a day without Grandpa in the 67 years they were married. I know it's been a tough 5 years without him and she finally decided her kids could hold their own and she said goodbye. She was a healthy and strong 97 year old until a case of pneumonia got a hold of her. We pray for her nightly and know she's in a better place dancing with Grandpa.

If she only knew what he would do at her house the day she died. If you know my mom's family, they are a little neurotic with their homes and possessions! They take the best care of them and even though they all had kids of their own...kids set free in their homes today is a little stressful for them! My grandma's house was pretty much off limits to the family after my Grandpa died as it just drove her crazy for kids to be running around or for a spec of dirt to land. You know the saying "over my dead body"? Well, this was pretty much how she felt about her entire family being back in her home all at one time...over her dead body...and guess what...here we are.

Bennet already helping out go through her stuff. This room was off limits the past few years and it was his first thing to enter. She must have been watching him because he was actually really good and didn't destroy a thing!

Oh and the best thing to do was touch the ceiling. Her house has very low ceilings and most of the guys have to duck under every fan and chandelier.  Yes Grandma, that is Monica holding up one of my chillins to touch the ceiling and I think that's Bennet with a drink on the carpet. Oh and yes that is a Christmas tree...without the ornaments...just lights. 

So sad yet so great to all be together at her home. It brought back so many fun memories. 

I didn't really capture it, but there were plenty of gymnastics going on in the living room too. Not sure what it is, but the living room just calls for a few flips and rolls. 

We will always remember the great and strong lady Grandma was.  She had a wonderful life and as sad as it was to see her go, it was truly a celebration of her amazing journey.
