KW - Day 8 and trip home

All packed up and ready to go. We took one last walk over to Sarabeth's for a delicious brunch and then back to the house to gather our bags and say goodbye to our lovely house.

The girls have their backpacks and anxious for the plane ride home.

Goodbye to our sweet comfy house.

And our sweet little pool!

Goodbye to the sweet (and scary) little monkey man. The girls just loved him...and his glasses.

AND GOODBYE TO YOU MR. LOUD MOUTH ROOSTER! You may be pretty and harmless, but need to be out on the farm to wake all the animals at 4am and not the innocent KW tourist. I'm assuming the locals sleep through it by now.

We had some time to kill after we left the house so we checked out the Eco Discovery Center in Key West. The girls learned about all the different things that live there.

Miss Adde posing by the aquarium.

The girls studying the exhibit.

Clare spots a really big sea turtle.

Our flight wasn't scheduled to leave until 4pm so after we killed time in town, we took the girls to one of the other available houses that our rental company offered us for the afternoon so we could squeeze in a nap. We arrived at the airport about 3:15 only to find out that there was a storm in Tampa and our plane was still on the ground at the Tampa airport and not scheduled to leave until after the storm passed. This is just typical for us and we just looked at each other and smiled. So, we camped out in the little Key West airport until our plane arrived and finally left about 7pm. The girls were just as excited for this flight as the ones on the way in. It was a little bumpy from the storm, but we made it to Tampa...only to then find out we missed our flight to Houston and it was the last one out that night. Continental was very accommodating and put us up there at the Marriott with meal vouches for dinner and breakfast. The only positive note was that we were in the Tampa airport and they have the best little playgrounds for kids and the girls were thrilled! We got scheduled for the next morning flight to Houston and went straight to the playground to burn some energy.

Good thing this plane is really not flying. The pilot is on her cell phone and the co-pilot is trying to familiarize herself with the cockpit.

Now we're really in trouble. The pilot is out on the wing and the co-pilot is on her cell phone and not even looking in the right direction. Yikes!

Having a ball in the EMPTY Tampa airport at 9pm!

Grabbed dinner, checked in to the very convenient Marriott hotel located in the airport, took showers and the girls are setting up their wake up calls while waiting on their pj's. Good night!

We caught the 6:30am flight and the girls woke right up and we're just as chipper as the day before. I am so thankful they love planes and flying.  Just as soon as we boarded, they put on their seat belts and fell asleep on Daddy's lap. We made it back safely and finally got home Sunday afternoon. A great trip had by all! Back home and back to reality.
